An Old, Red Barn

If we take a scenic route from our home to my in-laws’ house, we can pass this old, red barn. If we have the time to do so, we do so. I just love this barn… that it looks as if the slightest breath of wind will knock it over, that the red paint is so worn and faded in areas that the barn barely passes as red, and that the “guards” came running out to greet me when I stopped for some pictures. (More on them in the next post, I promise.)

My least favorite thing about the barn? The makeshift parking lot that’s slightly visible on the right side of the top photograph.

My favorite thing? That, despite blizzards, tornadoes, earthquakes, record-setting hot summers and cold winters, ice storms and the like, it still stands here. Precariously, perhaps, but standing nonetheless.
